Linea Terminale: 2006-2013

Linea Terminale paintings are inspired by Galileo’s moon drawings that record his observations of the phases of light and dark on the cratered surface of the moon.  The title Linea Terminale is derived from the astronomical expression; Terminator, which is the moving twilight line that divides the daylight side from the dark night side of a planetary body.  With linguistic homage to the visionary Galileo, Linea Terminale is the Italian translation of terminator line.  The numbers that appear in the title after Linea Terminale identify each painting individually, and indicate the month and year of completion.  The unitary format of the series provides a constant for calibrated celebrations of color and surface variation, luminosity, and transitions between light and dark.
